BOOK COVER VOTE

Dear Friends,
Book 2 is getting close to being done!

In the Midst: Treasures from the Dark is a collection of many of the blogs, poems and prayers that I wrote "in the midst" of my health crisis. It will serve as a companion volume to the first book. An Honest Look at a Mysterious Journey told the story. The second book reveals my reflections in the midst of the story.

I'm about to go to press and have reduced my cover options down to two. I'm requesting that you reply to this blog or to my email at jostumbiz@gmail.com with a simple vote for #1 or #2. Would you do that for me? Thanks!

Option 1 - ornate fonts tend to slow the reader down slightly, and are thus often used to convey a more contemplative, reflective mood. The san-serif font in option 2 is efficient and to the point, and appeals to my left brain... which seems contrary to your intent.

I like #2 the best out of the two. The text and photo convey a strong masculine voice and is a great companion to your first book. Option #1 has a much softer, more feminine quality.

I just like the "look" of #1 best. Am I supposed to be able to read the fine print on the left?

The "fine print" will show up more clearly in print form. I had to reduce the size to fit on my blog site.

Number 2 is cleaner and straight-forward. I am not wild about subtext being in the middle of the main title. It jars the brain (mine, anyway)...having to figure out what to read when. But it looks like I'm in the minority here!

I've been up since the middle of the night. So I can't claim a good brain or good eyesight. That said . . . I think I prefer #1. It says to me more what I think you are trying to say.

I like #1, but #2 the font is more like your first, so if you want that tie in... they are both cool. Do we have Brownie to thank for that?

I'm voting for #2. With #1, the placement of "Treasures in the Dark" separating "In the Midst" makes it seem a little too 'busy'. #2 makes the title more obvious to me.

The font of #1 is, to me a little too formal. Also, I think the title flows better in #2 without the "Treasures from the Dark" stuck in the middle.
